Tactile Animation & Media Art Lab
The Tactile Animation & Media Art Lab is designed for children (ages 9–12) and teenagers (ages 12–16).
At the heart of our program is the idea of bringing together theatre and animation.
In theatre, what matters most is the live presence, genuine emotion, and the unique moment that exists only here and now. In animation, we preserve this spirit through hands-on craftsmanship, real materials, and careful attention to every detail. We value natural textures, the visible touch of the creator’s hands, and authentic objects, creating animation that feels warm, expressive, and human rather than perfectly polished but impersonal.
We teach students to see every frame as a theatrical stage. Paper becomes the scenery, puppets and everyday objects become the actors, and the animator’s hands bring stories to life while revealing each character’s personality.
The Program Covers the Entire Filmmaking Process
- Learning the fundamental principles of movement and mastering several classic hand-crafted animation techniques
- Developing the ability to work within artistic constraints and combine individual ideas into one coherent story.
- Experimenting with paper, textures, and natural eco-friendly materials such as coffee and tea for tinting and artistic effects.
- Recording Foley sound effects and creating an original soundtrack for the project.
- Editing, color correction, and assembling all elements into a finished animated film.
- Developing soft skills through collaboration on a shared interdisciplinary creative project.
The intensive program includes 16 practical sessions (8 sessions per month, 2 hours each).
